Naturopathic Doctor
My journey in medicine began at age 17âwhen my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. As an adolescent, I recognized the anxiousness and doubt my mom felt for herself, for her condition, and for her family. Her search to understand her disease and find a cure was tireless. I read some of her books on nutrition and healing. My motherâs passing a few years later fueled my desire to help guide others in their journey to health.
My mission is to share what I have learned â through my momâs experience and through the lives of countless patients â with anyone who has a desire to reclaim their health and quality of life.
I studied Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University in Seattle, WA. After graduation I worked for a hospital in North Kansas City where I practiced Naturopathic and Functional Medicine. I later moved to Puerto Rico to lead a naturopathic university as a Clinical Director, where I had the exciting opportunity to collaborate with naturopathic faculty and medical students in providing care to patients in the Spanish language.
I am delighted to have returned to my home city and partner with patients to transform their health. I love to help patients understand their condition and empower them with the knowledge and confidence to transform their quality of life.
I am a father of four childrenâwhich occupies a lot of my free time. I love to cook and create meals. When Iâm out & about you may see me playing with my kids, at the gym, or out at the public library searching for stories to read. If you see me, feel free to say hello!

âThey canât find anything wrong with me.â In my 22 years of being a naturopathic doctor, I have heard patients say this to me repeatedly. When I was a teenager, I sustained a spinal injury that was consistently overlooked until one physician truly listened to what I was saying. I have been there and I understand my patientsâ frustration.Â
A Kansas native, I began my medical career as a nurseâs aide at the age of 16. I received my Bachelor of Nursing degree from Wichita State University in 1975, and started working in various hospitals and at the VA. As a nurse, I gained extensive experience in cardiac intensive care, home health and hospice care. A turning point in my nursing career led me to discover naturopathy, where I made the life-changing decision to move to Tempe, AZ to attend medical school. I received my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2000.Â
I have had the honor of serving patients as a licensed practitioner in Arizona, Alaska, and Montana, and am now back in my home state of Kansas to be near my family.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from many amazing naturopaths. However, my best teachers were my patients. It is important to me to listen with an open heart and mind, to look at the whole picture and to further examine each patientâs unique and individual situation.  I am passionate about teaching my patients how to be good observers of their body, mind and spirit; and strive to provide education and tools to help in their individual healing journey.Â
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching movies and spending time with my 14-year-old cat, Turtle. I also love the outdoors and fly fishing, and although I mostly catch rocks and twigs, I have a grand time just being in nature.Â
Primary Areas of Focus:

Naturopathic Doctor, Resident
As a Kansas City native, I have a deep passion for holistic, integrative medicine and a strong desire to help others pursue lasting wellness.
My journey into healthcare began at age 14, when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. After initially following standard medical recommendations, I found myself struggling, controlled by unpredictable blood sugar swings and feeling overwhelmed by the thought of managing this condition for life. Everything changed when I discovered the impact of daily exercise, especially after meals, on stabilizing my blood sugar. This sparked a new interest in the power of nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle medicine. As I began incorporating these practices, I experienced better control of my diabetes without the need for additional medications. That experience opened my eyes to a more empowering approach to health; one that naturopathic medicine fully embodies by offering natural, sustainable, root-cause solutions.
Although I still face daily challenges living with type 1 diabetes, I no longer feel defined by it. Instead, Iâm committed to living a chronically healthy lifestyle and supporting others on their own health journeys.
I earned my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Sonoran University of Health Sciences (formerly SCNM) in Tempe, AZ.
Living with a chronic condition has given me a deep appreciation for both the strengths of conventional medicine and the transformative power of naturopathic care. My mission is to cultivate healing through a compassionate, individualized approach, serving one patient at a time.
Outside of clinical practice, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, staying active, cooking, and connecting with my community through faith and service.

I grew up on a farm in Northwest Illinois where most of our meals consisted of meat and potatoes. Anything green on our plates was promptly referred to as ârabbit foodâ. It wasnât until I started naturopathic medical school that I would eat a full salad on its own.
Through my personal history of being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease I have found a passion in helping others with autoimmune diseases. Our health can be a complex puzzle and you need someone to take the time to dig through your history to find the root cause of your concerns.Â
I am passionate about helping patients regain control of their health. Together we will work as a team to optimize your health. My favorite part about working with a patient is when you see the moment that something âclicksââwhen everything starts to fall into place and the valley starts turning into an upward slope.
I received my undergraduate degree from Luther College in Decorah, IA where I studied biology and psychology. I then moved to San Diego, CA to attend Bastyr University in California to earn my Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine. I came to Kansas City to complete 2 years of residency at KCIH. After completing residency, I have continued at KCIH as an associate doctor as well as residency director.
I like to spend my free time with my husband, dogs (Mowgli & Ranger), painting, puzzles, singing, and playing board games with friends.
Primary Areas of Focus:

I was always drawn to naturopathic medicine, even before I knew the profession had a name. After graduating from high school in Kearney, Missouri, I attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. At Simpson, I played volleyball, studied Health and Exercise Science, and completed additional coursework in Health Services Leadership, where we took a deep dive into the American healthcare and insurance systems. I knew I had a passion for health and wellness, but gaining insight into those systems ignited a fire that inspired me to change your healthcare experience for the better.
Throughout my 4 years at Sonoran University of Health Sciences (formerly SCNM), my favorite principle of naturopathic medicine became Docere, or doctor as teacher. I enjoy empowering patients through education, helping you feel more confident and engaged in your health.
I know what itâs like to feel unheard and dismissed in a healthcare setting. As a licensed naturopathic doctor, I am committed to listening and guiding patients in taking charge of their own health with individualized naturopathic care tailored to each unique health journey.
When Iâm not seeing patients, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, traveling, weightlifting, and taking nice walks in nature. I also devote time to advocating for the expansion of naturopathic medicine in the Midwest.

Naturopathic Doctor
Iâm from a small Kansas community of 200 people. As a child, I can remember feeling full of energy; my legs running me all over town. Something changed in high school. I stopped being able to eat because my stomach hurt every time I did. After nearly a decade long battle, without relief from conventional medicine, I was determined to find answers; I would become the doctor I so desperately needed.  Â
This determination led me to pursue degrees in nutrition, functional medicine, and a doctorate of naturopathic medicine.  But I quickly learned the importance of a helping hand â instead of trying to do it all alone. My own education gave me hope, but it was the help of others that led me to find true healing.  Â
I want your healing journey to be faster than mine was. I want to help you get answers. It is my fervent hope that I can quicken the pace of your journey toward more optimal health. My truest passion lies in helping othersâŻfeelâŻgood, because as I learned through my own health struggles, there is value in feeling good daily. When we feel our best, our health thrives, our mindset is powerful, and we can find happiness in the world around us. So, bring on the healthy and the happy!âŻÂ Â
I like to spend my free time enjoying long country runs, lifting weights, loving on my dog, dining at fun restaurants, finding creative ways to make my favorite treats healthier, and curling up to evening movies with my loved ones.
Primary Areas of Focus:
- Gastrointestinal and digestive issues
- Weight management

My passion for womenâs health didnât just come from books. It came from experience.
Like so many of my patients, I was dismissed by conventional medicine. I was told, âLetâs put you on birth control to balance your hormones.â I tried it. I felt bloated, depressed, and completely unlike myself. But the real problem? The pill wasnât balancing anythingâit was just shutting my hormones down. I wanted real answers. I wanted a doctor who would actually test my hormones, who could help me understand what was happening in my body.
It only escalated. In my early twenties, I experienced an ovarian torsion. Three painful ER visits, three dismissalsââjust ovulation pain,â they said. By the time I discovered the real issue, my ovary was beyond saving. Half my reproductive capacity was gone before I even had the chance to start my family. That moment changed everything.  I deserved better. Women deserved better. Too often, weâre dismissed, gaslit, and left without answersâespecially when it comes to fertility, hormones, and long-term health. I knew there had to be a better way, and I was determined to provide it.
Thatâs why I founded Kansas City Integrative Healthâto give the kind of care I wish I had received. Here, we donât just throw a pill at a problem. We dig deeper. We uncover the root cause. Whether youâre struggling with infertility, endometriosis, PCOS, thyroid disease, menopause, or just want to optimize your long-term health, my mission is to help you understand and take control of your body.
For over a decade, Iâve dedicated my career to making sure women get real answers and real solutions. Iâve served on the executive boards for both the Kansas and Missouri naturopathic associations, taught at Rockhurst University, published research, and pioneered the first naturopathic residency in Kansas. My passion is translating the complexities of hormones into treatments that actually workâbecause womenâs health isnât simple, and it shouldnât be treated that way.
When Iâm not working with patients, you can find me trying the newest health gadget, running with my newest audiobook, praying the rosary, playing cribbage with my husband and laughing with my kiddos at every opportunity.
Primary Areas of Focus:
- Fertility and preconception health
- Womenâs health and hormones
